About this directory and how we check listings
Short answer: HoodCleaningCheck is an independent directory operated by Three Satellites Media. We only list kitchen exhaust cleaning companies that appear on a current official fire-department list, we show the list and its date on every listing, and we link to the source so you can check it yourself. Last verified:
This directory lists commercial kitchen exhaust (hood) cleaning companies that appear on a current official fire-department list for New York City, Boston, Nassau County (Long Island) or Nashua, NH. Last verified: October 9, 2026.
Who gets listed
- Entry rule: the company is on a current official list, and the approval, insurance, licence or registration dates on that list have not passed.
- Scope verified: the company is also on an official list and its own website says it cleans the hood, the duct and the fan. We quote the website and link to it.
- Official record only: the company is on an official list, but we could not confirm what it cleans on its own website. These pages are kept out of search engines.
- We do not sell placement or promotion today. If we ever add a paid option, it will always be labelled as paid. Companies cannot pay to change, add or remove official-status details, discipline records, reviews or the order of the official lists.
- No website? A company without its own website is still listed when it is on a current official list. Other proof that it operates (for example a Google Business Profile) can count once we have checked it by hand; we never copy names, addresses or reviews from Google.

Keeping it current
- We re-download the official lists at least monthly and on every publish day.
- Each listing stores its earliest credential date (approval, insurance, licence or registration). Once that date passes, the page automatically says “expired on our record; verify with the agency”, hides the official-list badges and is removed from search engines until we re-check it.
- Dates are checked in New York time (America/New_York). If a credential date on our record cannot be read, we treat the listing as expired until we re-check it.
- An expired listing is removed from the official-list filters, tag pages, city pages, search results, the sitemap and our data feed. Its own page stays reachable so existing links explain what happened.
- Boston publishes a new list each year and every Boston registration ends on December 31. We start re-checking for the new Boston list in mid-November; until the new list is published, Boston listings show “expired on our record”.
- A weekly re-check list shows every listing that has expired, expires within 45 days, or relies on a list older than 30 days.
Discipline records
For New York City we show entries from the FDNY Disciplined Companies & COF Holders list that are dated within the last 3 years. We quote FDNY’s wording (date, action and basis) and link to the FDNY PDF. We do not name individual employees. Older entries are not shown. A company can add a short response through our corrections page. Discipline records appear only on the company’s own listing page: there is no discipline tag, filter, badge or archive page, and they are not used to sort or rank listings.
Addresses and maps
Hood cleaners work at their customers’ kitchens, so we show the city and state only, never a street address. Map pins are approximate: each pin sits at the centre of the company’s city.
What we do not verify
IKECA membership, NFPA 96 compliance, prices and work quality are not verified by us. Company statements are quoted from the company’s own website.
What we do not do
- We do not certify, approve or inspect anyone. Only the fire departments named on each listing do that.
- We do not show star ratings or reviews we have not checked.
- We do not publish street addresses for service-area businesses; map pins are approximate city centres.
