Rules that apply
- The P-64 Certificate of Fitness is for technicians who inspect and clean commercial cooking exhaust systems and also a specific type of precipitator; applicants must work for an FDNY-approved precipitator company and show training on the particular precipitators they service (FDNY P-64 page).
- The P-64 is valid for the person it is issued to, anywhere in New York City, on a 3-year renewal cycle (same page).
- The whole system, including pollution control devices, must be inspected and cleaned at least every 3 months (FDNY public notice).
